KAGURA: A Motion Story Livestream Brought to you by Master Drawing Japan and CTN (Creative Talent Network)

 



Yesterday Master Drawing Japan presented a livestream from Japan in collaboration with the Creative Talent Network in the USA.

The two hour event named Kagura was a live drawing event presented as a motion story performed by Cay Izumi.  Special guests participating were veteran Walt Disney animation alumni Glenn Vilppu and Ron Husband. 

It was a spectacular event thanks to all the talent involved!  More to come in the future!

A second home-run thanks to master draftsman, painter and illustrator   Glenn Vilppu and the Suidobata Fine Arts Academy.     A four-day intensive drawing seminar in Tokyo on figure drawing, and drawing the human head, Glenn Vilppu, gave an amazing class to students, professionals and teachers from both Japan and abroad.  Some students came as far as from Kyoto in order to attend.  This was Glenn Vilppu's second collaboration with Master Drawing Japan but his first (of hopefully many ) at the Suidobata Fine Arts Academy in Tokyo. Vaughn Bode - Wizards and NYC Subway Art

Inner city NYC kids in the 1970's and 80's who had any drawing talent often carried not a sketchbook, but a black hardcover 'tag book'. Tag books were saturated from cover to cover with illustrations bleeding with color done in magic marker. This was a sketchbook for graffiti art. A 'tag' referred to a graffiti artist's nom de plume . Which usually was the subject of their art pieces found on subway cars. Animated cartoon characters such as the Looney Toons, Disney and Marvel characters would often appear alongside these huge graffiti mobile murals, but the cartoon artist that arguably influenced graffiti art the most was Vaughn Bode. Bode's characters Cheech Wizard, Lizard, Cobalt-60 or his voluptuous "Bode girls" like Belinda Bump were staples of graffiti art.
